Priority
This one of those, “I hate to say it” posts.
But, I will.
I am taking a blogging break. If you are a subscriber to this blog (and if you are, THANK YOU) you know that the last two weeks have been sort of bare bones around here, and this week, the silence has lingered.
The truth is, I have two major deadlines looming, and I’ve been negligent in getting ahead of the game. I drafted a schedule that would put me across the finish line with plenty of time to spare, but the reality of my work the last month or so is that I’ll be pushing the deadline right up to the end.
My desire was to leave enough room in the schedule these two weeks to make sure the blog was populated with new posts, but that’s just not happening.
While I’ve enjoyed another record month of traffic on the blog, ultimately, this blog and other social media outlets are a tool. November has been a great month for using social media to interact with others. I’ve met with writers and other creatives online, exchanged ideas, called each other on, offered encouragement: all of the positive things of having writerly friends on Facebook, Twitter, G+. I’ve had several prospective MFA candidates email and I’ve tried to answer questions to the best of my ability. I LOVE this sort of stuff! I really do.
But my priority?
My writing.
And so, as this blog sits silent for a few days, rest assured, I’ll be back soon, and I have a whole list of things I’m looking forward to blogging about. Until then, if you have any ideas of things you’d like to see discussed here, please feel free to leave a comment or drop me an email. I’ll pick up the pace again the week of December 12, and we’ll push forward from there.
