The absolute, number one, all-time greatest hits blog post of my blogging career goes to: To MFA or NOT?. This little thought exercise about the value of pursuing an MFA has been linked to and re-blogged and sparked all sorts of conversation, both in the comments box and via email exchanges. It’s the sort of post that gets people talking, and I’m very happy to be a part of that ongoing conversation.
The MFA topic is a hot one, so two other posts (What an MFA WON’T Get You and Thinking About an MFA? Two Perspectives) were popular as well.
One of my photo writing prompts stirred up a decent amount of interest: Anticipating the Holidays.
A reflective piece based on my Friendly Friday posts, about Online Contacts Who Become More Like Friends.
Several of my posts about short fiction, specifically the stories of Dorothy Parker, James Thurber, Flannery O’Connor, and even my Queens University thesis reader extraordinaire, Pinckney Benedict, remain popular posts that bring people into the blog from all over the internet universe.
2011 was a great year for this blog. I saw weekly (and monthly) traffic increase more than three-fold over where it was last year, and that trend has continued for more than five months. I’ve had the total number of “subscribers” to the blog more than triple. The number of contacts I’ve received from you, the reader, has grown exponentially. I’ve made new friends, found new colleagues, and I’m thrilled to have a chance to interact with other writers on a regular basis.
