Writing Prompts: What Are They Good For?

Here’s the latest edition of The Three Minute Writer. This time I tackle “writing prompts and exercises” and how I use them to improve my writing. I thought this would be a good topic to cover, since I post two writing prompts a week to the blog.

Thanks for watching and Happy Writing!

Oh, Yes! The books…

I mentioned in the video I would post the books I reference most often when looking for writing prompts, so, here they are!

  1. The 3 a.m. Epiphany (Kiteley) (It looks like this is out of print? Odd. You can get it used or on Kindle.)

  2. What If? (Bernays and Painter)

  3. Steering the Craft (Le Guin)

  4. Now Write! (Ellis, Ed.)

  5. Fiction Writer’s Workshop (Novakovich) – This is a full text, not just prompts and exercises, but there are a LOT of good ones in it.

As always, you can follow the links to Amazon, or search for them on your own.
