For freelance writing work, please include the general topic, format, expected length, and your budget for the project in your initial email. It helps me get an idea of what you are looking for and I can get an idea if I'm the right guy for the job. All discussion about your project will be kept confidential, and there is no obligation to utilize my services based on an email discussion of your needs.
Freelance writing rates are agreed to, in writing, prior to the start of the project. Terms of payment are negotiable, but typically I require 25% payment up front, with 50% upon completion, and 25% upon completion of client-requested edits and final acceptance.
